The COVID-19 pandemic has forced higher education institutions around the world to offer education through the Internet. This new modality is called “emergency online learning.” Understanding the factors that affected students’ use and acceptance of this new modality is essential for its success and the achievement of its maximum benefits. Dr. Patricia Aguilera, Assistant Teaching Professor of Human Development and Family Studies at Penn State Harrisburg, will present the results of a study exploring college students’ perceptions of their acceptance of emergency online learning due to COVID-19. Dr. Aguilera will discuss factors that influenced the students’ cognitive engagement, and she will offer suggestions on how to improve the acceptance of emergency online learning.
