Series: Engaging Student Series

Are you ready to transform your lectures where the students are passive listeners into lectures where students are actively participating? Are you ready to engage students in the process of making decisions based on the content learned in their classes during the previous week? This session will focus on instructors who are beginning to use the Top Hat teaching and learning platform’s classroom response system as a student engagement tool during their instruction. Instructors will identify how to reinforce important learning objectives using slides and checkpoints, explore various question types, gain immediate insights to address learning challenges in real time, view performance at a class or individual level to identify struggling students, and obtain weekly summaries highlighting the highest and lowest performers — and where students are having trouble making connections.

Throughout the session, instructors that are actively using Top Hat’s classroom response system will share their experiences creating classes where students have become active and engaged learners, provide strategies on how to get started, and guide you in and provide an opportunity for questions.
