Teaching academically underprepared students along with overworked students is a complex issue in higher education. This session will focus on identifying ways in which teaching via instructional technology in a focused manner can support and guide these students for improved student success. We will discuss technology tools that aid in assessing prior/background knowledge, providing consistent contact with students, promoting attendance, and cultivating deeper learning. In addition, strategies to nurture these students will be discussed, including what to establish in the first week, reaching out to missing students, implementing exam wrappers for student input, and addressing ways for students to better retain information.
